Since 1952, Bois Soleil is a story of families.
Created in the early 1950s
An industrialist from Loches acquired the land in 1952. It was then a small plot of land, which he allowed his employees to stay on at no extra cost during their summer holidays. Inspired by his travels all over the world, he gave each pitch the name of one of the places he had visited. You will find yourself staying on a pitch called Nice, Versailles, Biarritz, Madeira, Guadeloupe…
First official rating as a 4-star campsite in 1960
In 1960, the holiday camp was created, as, within approximately ten years, it had become a true campsite, welcoming French and foreign holidaymakers with an exceptional level of comfort for the time (4 stars). There was telephone connection on the pitches, 6 Amp electricity, heated toilets, a hairdresser, a butcher, a baker, a grocery shop, a snack bar, a bowling alley and even an open-air cinema, all in the spirit of ‘camping'.
Second official 4-star rating and newly awarded labels in 2000
Following the ‘storm of the century' in 1999, the founder's children sold the campsite. The new owner made landscaping improvements and the campsite was awarded both the Quality Label and the Charente Maritime Landscape Identity Charter label. In 2003, Bois Soleil extended into ‘Parc la Gironde' (where the swimming pool, restaurant and amphitheatre are now located).
Over recent years...
In 2010, Bois Soleil celebrated its 50-year anniversary! Fifty years of happy holidays, fun and friendship. In 2012, the campsite was awarded its fifth star. In 2014, a second restaurant (La Playa) was added, with a sea view, and, in 2015, the campsite was awarded the Alan Rogers European ‘Best Seaside Award'. Our adventure continues, and Bois Soleil Campsite is delighted to welcome you for your holidays in Charente-Maritime.
